Sp3ctrum Makeup & Brow Bar does sell our product line Sp3ctrum Cosmetics in the store and online. We also offer personal shopping and kit building.

I’m late for my appointment. What should I do?

If you’re running late, don’t worry. We allow a 10 minute grace period for you to arrive. If you are running late, please call (916) 900-2646 so we can contact your makeup artist ASAP. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we charge the full amount for your appointment as a no-show fee. In some cases, if your makeup artist is able to accommodate your late arrival, we charge an added fee ranging from $5-$15 depending on how late you arrive.

I have sensitive skin - Will the makeup break me out?

All of the products used are dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested (per manufacturer labeling). If you have a sensitivity to specific ingredients or products (like sunscreen or fragrance, for example) please let us so that alternate products can be supplied.

If you have sensitive skin or have experienced problems with any specific cosmetics in the past, please let me know as soon as possible.

I am on a tight budget, are you prices at all negotiable?

Unfortunately, our pricing is non-negotiable. We are a full team of highly trained and certified artists with years of experience under our belt. We only use quality high-end cosmetics and tools to provide your the best during your service. We take pride in our work and have a high volume of inquiries.

Do you have experience with darker or olive skin?

Yes! I am very familiar with all eye shapes and work with women from the fairest to deepest skin tones. We specialize in mixing foundations to match any skintone. We also have expert experience in highlighting and contouring any complexion. We use techniques to enhance every woman’s unique beauty.

Do you have experience with Ethnic/Acne/Mature skin types?

Absolutely! We specialize in custom-blended makeup to match any skin tone no matter how light or deep. We carry a full range of professional skin care products that we use to prepare delicate, mature, sensitive or acne-prone skin before makeup application to achieve the very best results.

Do you clean your brushes?

Yes! Hygiene is very important to us. Our brushes and tools are always cleaned and disinfected between client appointments and go through deep cleaning at the end of the day then again the night before the event. We also use several disposable items like mascara wands, sponges, lip brushes and cotton rounds to ensure clean application.

If I bring in a picture I found online, can you replicate that look?

We can try to replicate the photo as close as we can (if you chose to have it exactly like the picture), however, we cannot guarantee that it will look exactly like the picture. Keep in mind, the picture is a person who might have completely different shape eyes, nose, lips, skintone, hair, etc, as you do. But we can tailor it to fit your needs, and compliment your features.

What is Square?

Square is our booking program, and it has made the booking process so much simpler for us and our clients. When you book an appointment with us through our booking page, it automatically creates a Square client card for you. It’s an extremely easy program to use, so don’t worry about trying to figure a new thing out.

We message you through Square, and you have the option of responding simply pressing the “reply” button at the bottom of your email notification.

Because of Square, we are able to hold your appointment, send confirmations, reminders and provide your the option to book and reschedule your appointment 24/7 a day.

Do you have a wedding day minimum?

Yes, there is a minimum of a 4 person booking including the bride to be the main wedding of the day. If your service total does not meet the 4 person minimum, you will be worked in before or after the main wedding. What that means is if you are the only one wanting a service you will have to be worked around the main wedding of the day.

Do you require a deposit/retainer?

Yes, we do require a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your wedding date. The remaining balance will be due 2 weeks (14 days prior to the date).

How long with my wedding makeup last?

The makeup will last all day (8 – 15 hours). We use waterproof foundations, mascara, liners and powders. However, not many products are tear proof. We have done many brides at 6 in the morning and their makeup is perfect until the end of their reception. Of course, you will have to touch up with blot powder or blot paper and touch up your lips throughout the day.

What is your cancellation policy?

At Sp3ctrum, we understand that things come up and you might need to cancel your appointment. If that happens, please keep in mind our cancellation policy:

If you cancel up to 2 weeks before your wedding booking, there is no charge however the 50% holding deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel less than 2 weeks before your appointment, you will be charged 100% of your total appointment cost.

What size party can you accommodate?

Each artist can do up to 6 people comfortably provided we have enough time. It all depends on what time you have to be ready that day. If we have 8 girls and you have to be ready at 10 in the morning then we would schedule two artists for the day, at an additional fee.

Do you offer a pre-wedding consultation?

We require a wedding consultation before your big day. A consultation will help ensure that you are happy with your makeup look.

How far will you travel? What other travel-related expenses will I need to cover?

We will travel as far as you need me to. Depending on how far we have to travel there may be an additional travel charge, hotel stay and food expenses for the day.

When should I book my consultation appointment?

The best time to book you pre-wedding trial is approximately one to six months before your wedding. All trials take place at the Sp3ctrum Makeup & Brow Bar. During wedding season, June to September, we ask that you book your trials during the week days, whenever possible.

When do I pay the full amount for my services?

Full payment (or any remaining balance) is due two weeks prior to the appointment date. If the full balance is not paid withing 2 weeks, there is an additional $150 fee added to the final bill.

Is waxing sanitary?

Yes! In concern for your health and California law, we never double dip our wax sticks.

How long should I wait to get waxed after I’ve shaved?

Three to four weeks is recommended. It takes time to grow out each of the three cycles. If you come in prematurely you may not achieve a desirable result.

Am I too old to get a Brazilian wax?

We get this question all the time and the answer is absolutely not.

Are there any age restrictions?

All services may be performed on clients from 15-17 years of age with a signed parent consent form. We do not offer the Brazilian to clients under the age of 15, however, all other waxing services are available with a signed parent consent form and accompanied by a parent for the service.

What is double dipping?

Double dipping is when the technician dips the waxing stick back into the wax vat after using it on you or someone else – possibly allowing the spread of bacteria. Some believe that the wax is hot enough to kill bacteria but it is NOT. Our policy is to dip each stick into the wax only once and then throw it in the trash, so the wax being applied is always sterile.

What can I do about ingrown hair?

We suggest exfoliating in the shower with a body brush every day helps to keep the skin free from cellular buildup which can trap hair.

Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

No. Waxing removes hair from the follicle weakening the root over time. So, if anything it will grow back weaker, more sparse and easier to remove next time.

What’s the difference between a Bikini line, Bikini full and Brazilian wax?

Bikini line is a basic tidy; we wax the sides (called your panty line) and across the top. If you’re wearing a bikini, this will prevent any hairs from “peeking out”.

Bikini (full) is the next step and allows you to take off as much or as little hair as you like off the front. If you want to leave a small “landing strip”, triangle or nothing at all, it’s up to you!

Brazilian goes from the front, all the way to the back with an added butt strip. This is perfect for a completely nude look or you can leave a neat triangle on the front.
